During the carbonation process of soda water, if a pressurized direct-injection CO₂ technique is employed, the purity of the gas must be closely monitored. As gas flows through the piping system, it may come into contact with the external environment, potentially carrying particles or microbial contaminants that can adversely affect the final beverage.

Its hydrophobic PTFE membrane is designed for gas filtration, effectively removing particles, bacteria, and other contaminants from the CO₂ stream before contact with the beverage.
